Clean Share Link
Remove Tracking
Parameters
from
Links & Text
Whether it's a single link, a full message, or a block of Markdown or HTML text, links carry extra tracking data the moment a platform shares them. Clean Share Link instantly strips that data out — UTM tags, fbclid, gclid, ttclid, and dozens of others added by Facebook, TikTok, Google Ads, and countless other platforms — leaving every link shorter, cleaner, and safer to share while still pointing to the exact same place. Clean Share Link finds and cleans every link inside your text automatically. All processing happens locally in your browser — your data never leaves your device. No registration, no ads, no limits, forever free.
How to Use
- Clean Link: Paste a link, or paste any text containing one or more links, and click this button. Every link found gets its tracking parameters stripped — the page it points to stays exactly the same.
- Undo / Redo: After cleaning, tap Undo to restore the original text — the button switches to Redo, so you can tap again to bring back the cleaned version. Resets automatically when you edit or delete the text.
- Copy: Copies the cleaned text to your clipboard for immediate pasting into any app, message, or document.
- Delete: Deletes all content in the input field to start fresh.

How It Cleans Your Links
Clean Share Link takes a deliberately strict approach: instead of trying to recognize and remove every known tracking parameter by name — an impossible task, since new ones appear constantly across hundreds of platforms worldwide — it removes all parameters after the ? in a link, then adds back only the few that are actually required for the link to keep working (for example v on YouTube, ref on Messenger, or q on Google Search). This means tracking codes you've never heard of, including ones from smaller or regional apps most people haven't heard of, are removed automatically, with no need to wait for the tool to "learn" them first.
What Gets Removed
- Marketing tags:
utm_source,utm_medium,utm_campaign, and every otherutm_*parameter. - Social & ad click IDs:
fbclid(Facebook),gclid&gclsrc(Google Ads),msclkid(Microsoft),ttclid(TikTok), and similar identifiers from any platform. - Share & referral codes:
igshid(Instagram),si(YouTube share),ref,ref_src, and similar referral codes from any platform. - Any other tracking parameter: Including ones not listed here — Clean Share Link removes everything by default rather than relying on a fixed list, so it stays effective even against tracking codes invented tomorrow.
- Link fragments: The part after
#, almost always used for tracking or in-page anchors that aren't needed when sharing a link. The one exception is a Text Fragment (#:~:text=…) — the standard browser feature behind "Copy link to highlight" — which is kept intact since it's a genuine scroll-and-highlight instruction, not tracking.
What Stays Untouched
- The domain, path, and core destination of every link — where the link goes never changes.
- A small set of parameters required for a link to function, kept on a per-site basis — for example the video ID, timestamp, and playlist on YouTube, the search term on Google Search and Google Maps, and similarly for other supported sites.
- A Text Fragment (
#:~:text=…), if the link has one — it points the browser to a specific highlighted passage rather than tracking anything, so it's left as-is regardless of domain. - All surrounding text — Clean Share Link only touches the links it finds. Leading and trailing blank space around the whole block is trimmed — everything else in your message stays exactly as written.
This is safe for the vast majority of links, since their destination lives in the path, not the query string.
Best For
- Before you share: Remove fbclid, ttclid, and other click IDs before sharing a link on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, or anywhere else — on desktop, the bookmarklet further down this page does this in one click, without copying and pasting the link yourself.
- Forwarding messages: Paste a whole message from Messenger, WhatsApp, or any chat app and clean every link inside it in one click.
- Cleaning AI-generated text: Paste a response copied from ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini — Clean Share Link also cleans links written in Markdown format, a common format AI assistants use.
- Privacy-conscious browsing: Strip tracking identifiers before saving a link or sending it to someone else.
- Any link with a long, messy query string: If it looks cluttered after a
?, paste it here.
Not Recommended For
- Redirect or search-result links on unsupported sites: If a link's destination is stored entirely inside a parameter rather than the path, and that particular site isn't yet in our supported list, cleaning can remove the destination itself — not just tracking.
- Anything you can't afford to have break: As with any automated link editor, open a cleaned link once before sending something important.
Need to tidy the text around your links? Clean Share Link removes tracking parameters from links while leaving the surrounding text untouched. For cleaning extra spaces, blank lines, emojis, or Markdown, Text Cleaner is a free companion tool.

Browser Bookmarklet for Desktop
Want to clean the page you're currently viewing in one click, without copying and pasting the link yourself? Drag the button below to your bookmarks bar. Whenever you're on any page, click it — Clean Share Link opens in a new tab with that page's link already filled in the input, ready for you to click Clean Link and review the result before copying. The link is passed as a #url= fragment — for added privacy it's removed from your address bar and history immediately after the page loads.
Make sure your bookmarks bar is visible (Ctrl+Shift+B on Windows/Linux, Cmd+Shift+B on Mac), then drag the button above onto it — clicking it directly instead of dragging won't install it.
Privacy & Security
- 100% local processing: All link cleaning happens in your browser. Your links never reach any server.
- Bookmarklet uses a fragment, not a query parameter: The desktop bookmarklet passes the page's link as a
#url=fragment rather than a?url=query parameter — a query parameter would be included in the request sent to the server and often ends up in server logs, but fragment data is never sent anywhere. - Works offline: After the first load, the app runs without any internet connection.
- No tracking: We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for anonymous traffic stats only. No cookies, no ads, no personal data collected.
- No registration: Open the page and start using it immediately. Nothing to sign up for.
By using Clean Share Link, you agree to the Privacy & Terms.
