Privacy and Terms
We value your privacy above everything. This page explains how Todo List Page works, what data is (not) collected, and the terms under which you may use it. By using Todo List Page, you agree to these Privacy and Terms. For questions, see our FAQ.
Most privacy policies ask you to trust a promise. This one doesn't need to. Todo List Page is built so that your lists never leave your device — not because we chose to keep them private, but because the architecture makes it impossible for them to go anywhere else. There is no server to send them to. This page explains the details, but the short version is: your lists are yours, technically and completely.
1. Privacy Policy
1.1. What We Don't Do
-
No sign-up. No tracking. No ads.
We never ask who you are, we never track your activity, and we never show ads. -
No cookies. No fingerprinting.
We do not use cookies, device fingerprinting, or hidden trackers. Your theme preference is stored locally in your browser only. -
No AI processing.
Your lists are never analyzed, processed, or used to train AI models. Todo List Page has no AI features — your writing stays exactly as you wrote it. -
Minimal analytics.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure page views anonymously without cookies or personal data. This helps us understand basic site traffic (e.g., how many people visit) but never tracks individual users or behavior. No IP addresses, user agents, or identifiable information are stored.
1.2. How Your Lists Are Stored
-
Your lists never leave your device.
All lists are stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. They are never uploaded to any server or cloud. -
We can't see, access, or restore your lists.
Your lists are visible only to you — and only when you visit todolist.page using the same browser where you created them. -
Device responsibility.
Anyone with access to your device and browser can read your lists. Please use device-level protections (screen lock, passcode, OS/browser profiles).
1.3. Data Management Features
-
Deletion and Trash.
Deleted lists move to Trash for up to 7 days before permanent deletion. Once permanently deleted, they cannot be recovered. We do not keep backups. -
Clear All Lists is permanent.
Using the Clear All Lists option deletes all lists instantly from your browser, with no recovery possible. -
Full reset.
To remove everything completely, use both Reset Settings and Clear All Lists. Reset Settings clears your preferences (theme, sort order, and similar), while Clear All Lists permanently deletes all your lists. Together, they leave no trace of your data in the browser. Use Download All Lists first if you want a backup. -
Import and export.
Lists you import or export as .txt files remain private and never leave your device. Use Import Lists to bring lists in, or Download All Lists to create a local backup.
1.4. App Features and Privacy
-
Service Worker for offline access.
The app uses Service Worker technology to cache static files (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, fonts) locally in your browser, allowing you to use Todo List Page fully offline after the first visit. The Service Worker does not access, read, or transmit your lists. -
Search, Pinned Lists, Recent Edits, and Statistics.
All search queries, pinned list state, recently edited lists, and statistics calculations happen entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server. -
Timeline browsing.
Browsing your personal timeline by date, month, or year happens entirely locally in your browser. Your timeline data never leaves your device. -
Hashtag detection.
All hashtag detection and filtering happens locally in your browser. Hashtags are not indexed, tracked, or sent anywhere. -
Clean Up on Save.
When enabled, Clean Up on Save automatically removes extra whitespace from your list before saving. This processing happens entirely in your browser. Your list is saved locally on your device, exactly as cleaned up.
2. Your Lists Are Yours
-
Complete ownership.
Your lists belong to you. We never claim any rights to your content. -
No lock-in.
You can export and re-import your lists at any time, with no restrictions. -
Plain-text format.
Exported lists are saved in simple .txt format for safekeeping or reuse elsewhere.
3. Risk of Data Loss and Backup
-
Lists are stored only in your browser.
If you clear your cache, reset your browser, or lose your device, your lists will be permanently lost. -
Safari on iPhone, iPad, and Mac may clear your lists automatically.
Safari may clear locally stored data after a period of inactivity (often around 7 days) due to its Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP). Install to Home Screen to prevent this. -
Low storage may trigger automatic deletion.
When your device or browser runs low on storage, the browser may automatically delete locally stored data — including your lists — to free up space. This can happen silently, without any warning. Use Download All Lists regularly to protect against this. -
Back up regularly.
To protect against accidental loss, use Download All Lists frequently. -
Not for sensitive data.
We recommend not storing passwords, financial details, or other highly sensitive information. Use dedicated secure tools for that purpose.
4. Terms of Use
-
